Pearl Izumi Microsensor
Short and Tight
Suggested retail may give you sticker shock at first, but
the old saying "You get what you pay for..." comes
to mind. We sorta knew that once someone's design department
got a hold of the re-designing the chamois, they would address
the most basic need - COMFORT. Starting with the 3D chamois.
CLICK
" High quality, high performance, high style-everything
about our Microsensor® 3D Short says high-end. It features
ergonomically sculpted panels with flatlocked seams for optimum
fit, plus a revolutionary 3D Chamois® that provides ultimate
comfort in the saddle." PI.
The
first thing you notice is the thickness of the pad. That and
the cool color you are about to sit on. Legs are long enough
to grip low just above the knee or shuzh up for the tan line
allowance. All seams are flatlocked and don't rub or leave
the seam channel on your leg zone. I use mine most of the
time i ride, from chilly AM rides to swealtering hot days
and have said out loud "These shorts are sweet."
Not only does the Microsensor material wick sweat and vapor
but the cut of the panels is such that it moves with the leg.
And the pad keeps things in place and insulated from the harhshness
of chip-sealed roads and other nasty debris one hopes to dodge. Rating: 5 out of 5 snowflakes.
As for the tight, it's a "no breyner"- Same technology, no
chamois. An excellent pull on tight for cold days. All panels
are flatlock stitched and are un-noticable against the skin.
This is also an excellent addition to your Nordic wardrobe
as well as cold weather running or trail hiking. Microsensor
